Where do I download Dela, and what does it run on?
Get the installer from the download page. The Mac app is a Universal build for macOS 14 or later and lives in your menu bar. The Windows app runs on Windows 11 (x64 and ARM64) and lives in your system tray. Once it's installed, sign in with the same account you use on the web.
Signing in isn’t working
Sign-in uses your Google account. When you click Continue with Google in the app, Dela opens your browser; once you've signed in there, the browser hands you back to the app. You may see a one-time prompt asking to open Dela — allow it. If the browser sits on “Opening Dela…” and nothing happens, make sure the app is installed on this computer, then try signing in from the app again.
The hotkey or microphone doesn’t work (Mac)
Dela needs two permissions on Mac: Microphone, so it can hear you while you hold the key, and Accessibility, so the hotkey works in every app, not just Dela. (Notifications are optional.) If the hotkey does nothing, open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility and turn Dela on. If it already shows on, switch it off and on once. Microphone access is in the same Privacy & Security pane. Transcription runs on-device, and your audio never leaves your computer.
Dela can’t hear me (Windows)
Windows doesn't ask for a microphone permission, but its system-wide “Let apps access your microphone” switch can be turned off, and then Dela hears nothing. Use the Open microphone settings button in the app, or go to Settings → Privacy & security → Microphone and turn that switch on.
“Setting up Dela” is taking a long time, or it failed
Your assistant runs on its own dedicated infrastructure, which is created when you sign up. That usually takes about two to three minutes. If the app says “Taking longer than usual,” give it a little more time. If setup fails or times out, press Retry in the app or check your dashboard. A failed setup doesn't affect your subscription. If it keeps failing, email us and we'll sort it out.
How does the free trial work?
You get a 7-day free trial with 1,500 credits. You need a card to start it, and checkout goes through Stripe. Cancel any time before the trial ends and you're never charged. To compare plans, see pricing.
What happens when I run out of credits?
Credits pay for what your assistant does: model usage and tool calls. When your balance hits zero, your assistant pauses until the next billing cycle. To keep going sooner, upgrade to a higher tier or buy a one-off credit pack in billing settings.
How do I cancel?
Go to Settings → Billing and choose Cancel subscription. You keep full access until the end of the period you've paid for. When that period ends, your instance is shut down and everything you created (chats, transcripts, drafts, contacts, schedules and uploaded files) is permanently deleted. Your login stays, so you can re-subscribe later. If you re-subscribe before the period ends, nothing is lost. To update your card or see invoices, use the Stripe portal on the same page.
